The study of patterns and relations is fundamental to mathematics.  In grade six, students continue to examine patterns, construct and extend them, develop charts, and then predict and justify pattern extensions.  Students will also start to write mathematical expressions that relate the term to its position (order or term number) in the pattern.  The knowledge and understanding of patterns and relations prepare students to understand and work with algebra and functions in the Senior Years.
